What’s different ‘tween a frog on a log
And a toad on the road?
Well one could be hit by a car!
I’m just joking with you
Now I’ll tell you true
And you’ll know more than most kids by far
They both hatch out of eggs a tadpole
Compared to adult frogs they’re not whole
And they’ve got a long tail like a lizard’s
Short legs like arms very small
With almost no frog shape at all
The way that they change they’re like wizards
Frogs are all wet
Don’t make them your pet
They prefer to be in the wild
Toads are quite dry
Don’t hop, just walk by
And both prefer weather that’s mild
They both are amphibian
Although they are livin’ in
Two very different homesteads
A toad’s skin is dry and is warty
Their hind legs are strong but their shorty
And toad’s eyes don’t bulge out of their heads
Frogs vary in size
Many shapes to their eyes
They can be different colors too
Varied frog types abound
Have been 400 found
Some change their skin shades to fool you
It seems kinda rude
Toads sneak up on their food
They they grab the prey with their mouth
If I were toad prey
Saw him coming my way
I think that I would head south!
Some frogs use tongues long and sticky
To catch and eat food that is icky
They flick out their tongue to do it
In the blink of an eye
The food goes bye bye
Down his throat and he won’t even chew it!
Frogs have their teeth in a row
The top of their mouth’s where they grow
They don’t use them to bite what they catch
When they get a mouth full of food
And though it sounds rather crude
Eye bulges push meals down the hatch
Now let’s talk of frog’s feet
There are many kinds that are neat
And they’re different and varied indeed
Whether climb, fly or swim
God adapted for them
Shaped feet to do what they need
Now I hope you have straight
Many differences great
That leaves us just one thing to do
So in conclusion
This may cause confusion
But toads are also frogs too!
