When I find seashells by the shore
It always leaves me wanting more
What did this thing that left its hide
Really look like when inside?
Did that animal lose its shell?
I look inside it’s hard to tell
Yes these seashells from the sea
Have befuddled little me
I collect each and every pretty one
Fill up my pail then I am done
I hold the big ones to my ear
And listen to the sea so near
Unlike dinosaurs that left their bones
These shells are animal’s former homes
Sometimes they change shells when they grow
I bet that process is so slow
I’ve got bones but not a shell
I do without one very well
But if I lived upon the sea
A plain old fish I wouldn’t be
No I would have a shell that’s hard
Protect my insides stay on guard
There’s people fishing all the time
But you don’t see seashells on their line!
