I want to tell you what I found
It was lying right there on the ground
A funny shaped vase
And inside was a face
That was looking out and making a sound
I put my ear to the lid
And I heard a voice say “Hi…I’m Sid!”
“Please lift up the top”
Sid jumped out with a “pop”
And boy am I glad that he did

There once was a town along Pickelman’s Pike
Where all the kids looked exactly alike
They had the same color eyes and the same color hair
They even chose the same clothes to wear
It became very tough for their parents to tell
Which child was theirs and which one was…well
The kid down the block or the kid up the street
Each kid was identical…each kid that you’d meet
As you might imagine it was tough for the teachers
And difficult too for all of the preachers
If one kid was bad they ALL were in trouble
When two kids were there you always saw double
The whole town agreed a solution was needed
The school principal’s idea was the one that was heeded
Each kid would wear a number…at school and in town
At least ’til a better solution was found
Of course the kids would switch numbers to confuse everyone
The parents were angry but the kids thought it fun
The kids knew who they were but weren’t too sure
The identity of anyone else anymore
So the whole town decided in the future there’d be
For each kid a unique look and personality
Kids tastes started changing…their manner and style
Each kid developed an individual smile
Soon the whole town decided it was better to be
One of a kind and just “one” of me
When everyone’s different everyone wins
But now what do we do with the Robinson twins?

Things that happened last September
I find it easy to remember
If only once I even saw it

Memory is just a game you play

Ladybug Ladybug
High on my wall
Your feet must be sticky
‘Cause I see you don’t fall
You’re a pretty red color
And you’re spotted too
If you were much bigger
You’d be in a zoo
I watched you a long time
And I was surprised
Your hidden wings
Means a Ladybug flies
But one thing I don’t know
Is why you’re named that
Is it cause you’re gentle
Or you look like a hat?
I ask and I ask
But no one can surmise
And just what do we call
All you Ladybug guys?

Really does much good

The dictionary tells you the meaning of wurds
And how to pronounce them as well as nurds
They include all the wurds in the book and bind ’em
But you gotta know how to spell ’em to find ’em

Though I am just a little cloud
I’m fluffy and billowy and very proud
If I keep growing then I guess
I’ll become a big old cumulus
And float with my friends so you can peer us
And tell us apart from those wispy cirrus
We cumulus clouds have the most status
We’re not stringy and gray like those skimpy stratus
You can tell I like being what I am
And I like changing shapes which I can

They love to laugh and giggle
And when you read your poems to them
They’ll listen close not wriggle
Well most of them do anyway
Some kids are hard to please
But I guess that I just like them all

As Grand kids grow older they change very fast
Yes “Two weeks ago”…well that was the past
Being a Grandpa today has many trials
But all that you’re after are one of “Those Smiles”
They get taller and cuter and quicker and smarter
If a Grandpa wants answers then he’s gotta barter
They also learn things that you have forgot
If you EVER did know them…probably not
When talking to Dannie…Zoology’s her thing
If chatting with Lucy great books are the king
Now Gigi loves Science…not one of my fields
And Gus loves Gymnastics…my head’s over heels
Jonathan and Star Wars are so closely linked
He’ll spout twenty facts before I have blinked
John Scot Junior always knows what’s newest
And my knowledge of new things is one of my fewest
When talking to Judson Silly’s the game
But I’m up for that ’cause it’s part of my name
And then there is Sarah who’ll always converse
But she is so cute that I want to write verse
All Eight of my grand kids are God’s great blessing
And I love them all dearly…of that I’m confessing

I promised not to say exactly where
But a Silly Zoo really is there
You couldn’t find it if you tried
But I’m happy to give you all a guide
Right at the door of that magical place
You’ll see a turtle with a monkey face
The next critter over is very small
A purple striped mouse whose name is Paul
You’ll hear it before you see it next
An elephant bird that’s very perplexed
Then there’s one fellow too big to hide
An anteater with a snout two miles wide
There are no lions or tigers at this zoo
‘Cause normal animals just won’t do
The closest thing to something you’ve seen
A huge rhinoceros that’s a very bright green
There is one way you might get in
A zookeeper by the name of Ken…
Is no longer there and his job is open
So if you apply you must excel at ropin’
Ken used to say that the animals hate him
And he was right because they ate him
