Santa was at the mirror practicing his smile
Not that it had been a very long while
Santa’s always happy the year around
But he has to be SANTA head to ground
Then all of a sudden as quick as NO wink
Santa realized that he just couldn’t blink
He practiced and practiced and he even chose
To put his finger to the SIDE of his nose
He knew that right before he left each place
That he did those two things and needed his face
He couldn’t believe it… was he too old?
There’s no way he could put Christmas on hold
Santa called on Eve his wonderful wife
He needed her now in his hour of strife
“Maybe a splinter got into your eye Dear”
She looked and examined and did peer
“Nothing there that I can see Dearest Kris
Unless it’s something my old eyes did miss”
Santa and Eve then both shed a tear
And hugged each other sharing their fear
Then Santa told Eve “Please do not cry”
And winked at her with his left and right eye
“Look Kris, you just winked at me!
Go back to the mirror and you will see”
Santa rushed over and his reflection showed
Neither one of his eyes was getting too old
“It was shedding those tears that cleared the way”
“Oh this has become the Happiest day!”
That all happened to Santa a few years ago
And he is still winking and blinking as we all know
So if once in a while you shed a few tears
Maybe like Santa they’ll chase all of your fears
